in Today, we take a look at and welcome faculty who have started with the Fall Semester. John Gruver, PhD. John Gruver joins Michigan Tech’s Mathematical Sciences Department as an assistant professor. Gruver received a PhD in Mathematics Education in a joint doctoral program at San Diego State University and University of California, San Diego. Michigan Technological University, with 13 students for every instructional faculty member, has more professors per student than the national average, which is 15 students for every one instructor.

One thing I love about MTU is that the university gives students tons of hands-on opportunities to solve real problems, not just problems out of a textbook (though we still do a fair number of those!). MTU offers a wide range of courses covering areas of study such as science, engineering, business studies, humanities, music, art and design.
